There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to daily activities, especially if fatigue is getting in the way of you enjoying your day. Energy conservation is about tuning into your body and environment to find smarter, more efficient ways to distribute your energy. In this session, you’ll learn practical, creative strategies to pace yourself, reduce fatigue, and stay engaged in the activities that matter most to you.

  • Where: Online on Zoom

About The Speakers: David Liira and Phylicia Lam

David Liira is a second-year Master of Occupational Therapy student at UBC with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. He is currently completing his final practicum with the BCBWP and has experience working with various adaptive and older adult populations through his background in kinesiology and clinical placements throughout the OT program. David is passionate about helping individuals stay independent and engaged in the activities that matter most to them through spreading the message that ‘movement is medicine’. Outside of work, David enjoys running and playing the piano.

Phylicia Lam is a second-year Master of Occupational Therapy student at UBC, currently completing her practicum with the BCBWP. She holds an undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from UBC, which has provided a strong foundation in understanding brain function and has supported her transition into applying this knowledge in clinical practice with individuals living with neurological conditions.

Phylicia has previous experience working with individuals with cognitive and intellectual disabilities in a day program setting, as well as volunteering with Special Olympics as a swim instructor. These experiences have shaped her understanding of the importance of activity and participation, and how meaningful occupations can be used therapeutically to support health, engagement, and well-being.

In her free time, Phylicia enjoys boxing, playing recreational volleyball, and crafting.
