Wellness Wednesday: The Social Side of Aging: Why Relationships Matter for Health

As we grow older, the quality of our social relationships plays a critical role in shaping our physical and mental well-being. Dr. Theresa Pauly's talk will explore how social isolation and loneliness affect health in later life—potentially disrupting stress regulation systems—and highlights the importance of fostering connection for healthy aging.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Theresa Pauly

Dr. Theresa Pauly is an Assistant Professor in Gerontology at Simon Fraser University and holds a Canada Research Chair in Social Relationships, Health, and Aging. Dr. Pauly earned her PhD in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and completed postdoctoral work at the University of Zurich. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles published in interdisciplinary journals. Her research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, New Frontiers in Research Funds, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
