Instructor Information

Amy Freeman is a registered social worker with over 25 years of experience in health care. Since 2010, she has served as the social worker at the Clinic for Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders at UBC Hospital, supporting individuals and families navigating dementia, caregiving challenges, and ambiguous loss.

She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia (1998) and has worked in a range of geriatric care settings, including geriatric psychiatry, home health, and rehabilitation. Amy has also taught as a sessional instructor at the UBC School of Social Work and served as a field educator for social work students.

In addition to her clinical work, Amy is a certified fitness and nutrition coach and teaches Strength and Balance Level 2 exercise classes for the BC Brain Wellness Program.

Olivia Bauer is a registered social worker at the Movement Disorders Clinic (Centre for Brain Health) and has worked as a counsellor at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre since 2020. She’s passionate about walking alongside individuals and families experiencing life-changing events and grief and loss, and nurturing the human capacity for resilience and rebuilding hope. She integrates her previous experience in companioning bereaved individuals, families, and siblings in palliative and hospice care settings. She completed a BA in Psychology at UBC and a Master of Social Work (Clinical) at UBCO.
