About the Speakers:
Dr. Amrit Dhariwal
Dr. Amrit Dhariwal holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UBC. She is also Co-Director of the Family Therapy Clinic at BC Children’s Hospital. Her current clinical and research initiatives focus on helping families of children with various physical symptoms affected by stress. She has co-developed treatments, published peer-review literature, and created knowledge translation products for public use.
Dr. Andrea Chapman
Dr. Andrea Chapman is a psychiatrist at BC Children’s Hospital and clinical professor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry. She is the Director of Consultation-Liaison Service at BCCH, the psychiatric service that works with children/youth admitted to the medical wards. Her area of interest is in pediatric somatization; she has developed family and professional resources for pediatric somatization, participated in research on group therapy for somatization, and co-authored articles on somatization and the mind body connection.
